Central Elementary School is truly your hometown elementary school. Central School has a rich history in Owosso starting in 1858, with our current campus being built in 1950. Our building has been meticulously maintained and, thanks to taxpayer support, our most current expansion includes a beautiful multi-purpose cafeteria, a brand-new kitchen, and a fine arts room. We are proud of the legacy of students that have passed through our doors. We know when you visit you will not only witness a world class curriculum but will also feel our Trojan Pride.
Welcome Home!
- Central Elementary is a K-5 school with approximately 430 of our youngest Trojans.
We are committed to providing excellence in education for all children in our neighborhood. The Central Family prides itself on working together with parents and community members to serve our students. We have a thriving PTO, multiple parent engagement evenings, opportunities for real world connections and numerous field trips throughout each school year.
- Our daily Encore program includes global arts, music, science fitness, sports and technology. As part of the Owosso music curriculum all students learn how to play recorders in 4th grade and the ukulele in 5th grade alongside accredited music instructors. In addition, we offer introductory band to our 5th grade students in conjunction with the Owosso High Bands program. During global arts rotation, the students are immersed in cultures from around the world. Central students have a physical education that focuses on the whole child and includes not only sports training but the science of living a healthy, balanced life. Our building is full of state-of-the-art technologies and students are taught the skills necessary to live and work successfully in a digital world.
- Our highly qualified teaching staff is trained in Project Lead the Way giving our students science and engineering opportunities for students beginning in Kindergarten all the way through 5th grade. We also have teachers trained in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP) philosophies. Students learn about the Learner Profile attributes that work together to build well rounded learners based in a foundation of inquiry.
I invite you to visit Central Elementary, volunteer and become a part of our community! We love sharing our excitement for learning and welcome your participation at any time. You can follow us on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
